FOR THE ONE

Our Story

In the fall of 2015, a group of about 25 individuals from Junction City Church of the Nazarene gathered at a home south of Chapman with one purpose: to pray and seek God's guidance. They felt a strong calling to plant a church in Chapman, Kansas. As the group grew, their meeting space became too small, and they began praying for God's direction for the next step in His plan. Around this time, another church in town made the difficult decision to close its doors and planned to sell its building to the highest bidder. JC Naz felt led to place a bid for the church property. Before the bid was submitted, a special offering was taken up to support the purchase. JC Naz's bid was much lower than the other two, but something remarkable happened. One member of the closing church shared her experience: “As I opened the bids and looked at them, I saw JC Naz’s bid and thought, ‘I really expected this to be more. I think they missed a “1” or “2” in front of their bid.’ Yet, as I passed it on to the next board member, I felt God’s thumb in my back, and He said, ‘This is the one who will get it.’” The local Lutheran church board voted to sell the building to JC Naz. On Easter Sunday 2016, Chapman Naz officially launched and has become a fully organized church. Our passion is to build God's kingdom in Chapman and beyond. We would love for our story to become a part of your story! At Chapman Naz, we say, “Come as you are—WE ARE ALL IN!”

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Our Mission

Our mission is to answer the call of Jesus to go and make disciples, sharing His love and truth with the world. We believe that we are found by Jesus, who redeems and restores us, and that through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, we are made new in Him. With hearts and lives shaped by His grace, we are sent into the world to be a light in the darkness, living out the hope of the Gospel and reflecting His glory in all that we do. As we live this mission, we seek to empower others to follow Jesus, be transformed, and become active participants in His kingdom on earth.

Our Pastor

Welcome! I’m Pastor Scott, and I want to personally thank you for visiting our website! My wife, Taylor, and I, along with our two boys, Owen and Cashton, have been blessed to call Chapman our home since 2018. Growing up in small towns, we truly understand the value of a close-knit community, and Chapman has been just that for us. One thing we've loved about this town is the strong emphasis on family—something we’ve wholeheartedly embraced at Chapman Naz. We’ve worked hard to create a culture where everyone feels like they belong. Here, we like to say: "Welcome Home!" If you’d like to learn more about our church, what we do, or if you simply have questions, I’d love the opportunity to connect with you!
